WHY WE'RE HERE:
The Maneuver Dominance (MD) Team at Anduril develops aerial robotic systems designed to operate in large coordinated teams. We leverage existing Anduril drone platforms like Ghost, Altius, or Roadrunner, in addition to bringing 3rd party platforms into Anduril’s Lattice ecosystem. We develop perception and autonomy algorithms to solve some of the hardest problems facing our customers.
As the Engineering Lead, Vehicle Autonomy for the Maneuver Dominance Division, you will be tasked with the critical mission of guiding the technical direction of innovative aerial platforms. Your expertise will be fundamental in ensuring that our projects align with market-driven capabilities and meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead the development and integration of Fly-By-Wire (FBW) control systems and autonomous vehicle technologies for aerospace applications, with a focus on safety, reliability, and mission success.
- Architect complex autonomy systems, including sensor fusion, perception, localization, path planning, and decision-making algorithms.
- Design, implement, and validate machine learning models for predicting vehicle behavior and ensuring robust decision-making under diverse conditions.
- Oversee the seamless integration of autonomy algorithms with hardware and software systems, ensuring compliance with military airworthiness standards.
- Guide the autonomy team through rigorous testing and validation processes, including simulation, closed-course testing, and operational field trials.
- Establish and maintain best practices for software development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that vehicle autonomy capabilities align with mission-specific requirements and regulatory standards.
- Stay informed of industry trends and advancements in autonomous technologies, and advocate for the adoption of innovative solutions that offer competitive advantages.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical acumen and strategic insight, coupled with a history of managing intricate aerospace endeavors. Your leadership will be instrumental in propelling the Maneuver Dominance Division to new heights, delivering unparalleled solutions to our defense partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in autonomous systems engineering within the aerospace sector.
- Expertise in aerospace vehicle autonomy, FBW systems, and control systems for manned or unmanned vehicles.
- Proficiency in sensor selection, redundancy management, and the integration of control and flight software.
- Experience with robotics software development, including ROS, and programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
- Demonstrated ability in requirements-based system verification and familiarity with military airworthiness certification processes.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in managing complex technical challenges.
- Eligibility for U.S. TS/SCI security clearance and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience with self-driving car technologies and/or machine learning algorithms in a real-world autonomous vehicle context.
- Publications or presentations in recognized journals or conferences on topics related to vehicle autonomy or robotics.
- Prior work on ground, aerial, or maritime autonomous platforms in a defense or commercial context.
- Existing security clearance eligibility
US Salary Range
$182,000 - $273,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
