JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Electrical Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers supporting product development. This role focuses on driving product milestones, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring innovative, competitive, and high-quality designs. The manager defines and executes strategies, oversees budgets, and fosters team development while staying abreast of advancements in related technologies.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of electrical projects, ensuring goals and objectives are met.
- Oversee the full design lifecycle, from concept through manufacturing, including project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as necessary.
- Create and review specifications, instructions, and other product-related materials.
- Evaluate and refine policies and procedures to optimize department performance.
- Drive quality and safety objectives with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Mentor and manage engineering staff to meet product and quality specifications on time.
- Influence team decision-making on schedules, scope, and project execution.
- Hire, train, develop, and manage performance for the engineering team.
- Communicate and collaborate with customers, supervisors, and cross-functional peers.
Experience
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, including 3+ years in management.
- Proficiency in electronic and harness design, PCB design, and relevant software tools.
- Experience designing low-volume, high-quality electronic products.
- Demonstrated ability to lead product development from concept through manufacturing.
Education
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Additional Requirements
- Background in avionics, UAVs, autopilot systems, communications, RF design, or embedded systems.
- Knowledge of software development principles and integration with hardware systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity in applying engineering principles to solve problems.
- Adaptable to organizational change and able to inspire and motivate teams.
- Skilled at building and maintaining professional relationships.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in an office and/or production environment (constant)
- Required to sit and stand for long periods time; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard (frequently)
- Travel both domestically and internationally as needed to resolve technical issues (rarely)
The salary range for this role is:
$136,807 - $194,040AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
