Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing, and optimizing existing facility infrastructure.
The Director, Robotics Software Engineering is a key leadership position responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of innovative features, tools, and workflows that enhance the performance of our robots and deliver significant value to our customers. This role will also enhance product effectiveness and speed feature delivery to impact customer operations and market differentiation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a global robotics software team ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategy.
- Lead product owners in defining and maintaining the software roadmap based on strategic goals, customer feedback, and contractual needs.
- Drive innovations and improvements in robotics software to address customer needs, with a 12–18 month focus.
- Set technical direction, focusing on new features, improved algorithms, and system reliability.
- Collaborate with other software teams to develop and enhance software, networking, and autonomy stacks.
- Ensure coordination between hardware and software teams for seamless product development and new platform launches.
- Chair strategy meetings to guide the strategic evolution of products.
- Implement system monitoring to detect and resolve issues proactively.
- Propose strategies to resolve technical challenges and maintain system health.
- Oversee automated testing and simulations to reduce workflow errors.
- Lead the perception team in object detection, tracking, and sensor evaluation.
- Support teams in enhancing deployment speed and accuracy for customer solutions.
- Develop an API communication framework between robot and business software teams.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to execute key initiatives.
- Occasionally travel (domestic/international) for global team meetings or conferences.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in robotics software development.
- 4+ years leading local and remote teams in robotics application development (perception, navigation, simulation).
- 6+ years of experience with C/C++ and/or Python in robotics applications.
- 5+ years of experience with ROS, including 1+ year with ROS 2.0.
- Familiarity with AI methodologies and computer vision.
- Experience with cloud services, automation, and continuous deployment is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and agile development skills.
- Proficient English written and verbal communications skills required to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
