Cellula is an innovative engineering company that specializes in automated and tele-robotics systems; primarily for the offshore and subsea market space. Our solutions are designed, built and tested in-house by a skilled team of engineers, technicians and support staff.
In this Electrical Co-op role, you will work in the engineering team on the design testing and commissioning of AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). General duties include supporting engineers in the testing, development and production of subsea robotic technology. Good communication skills and a willingness to learn are required, and students with an eager attitude and excellent work ethic will gain the most benefit. You will be exposed to aspects of the key disciplines involved: Electrical, Mechanical, Software and Project Management particularly from an electrical engineering point of view.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may vary depending on the overall workload, but will typically involve the following:
- Assisting with commissioning AUV system
- Testing & Troubleshooting AUV behaviour
- Assisting with operational objectives
- Data review & analysis
- System documentation: Writing/reviewing test plans and reports, technical diagrams
- System testing: Setting up bench tests, quality testing components or assemblies
- Software development: Arduino development and testing
- Production: Hands on mechanical or electrical assembly and fabrication
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics program leading to a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficient communication skills, both written and oral
- Problem solving, analytical thinking, and research skills
- Aptitude for detail with the ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to identify tasks and take initiative with minimal direction
- Experience with Windows O/S, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio)
- Use of test equipment, including oscilloscopes & digital multimeters
- Experience with soldering/crimping and general electrical assembly
- Basic understanding of schematic symbols and electrical drawings
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in the subsea industry
- 2D AutoCAD or Draftsight
- Subsea electrical systems and sensors
- Control Systems: theory & practice
- Linux Ubuntu O/S
- Labview and Arduino programming
- ISO9001 quality control
- Extracurricular club/team involvement
